One of the largest oil generating facilities in northeastern Kazakhstan for the production of petroleum products and services related to oil refineries is "KazPetro Trans YUG, TOO". The refinery began processing oil from the Astana oil fields in 2020, and since then, it has focused mostly on processing these raw materials. The company has the capacity to handle 4.0 million tons of crude oil per year.
A variety of oil products are produced by "KazPetro Trans YUG, TOO". Bitumen in various grades (for use on roofs, buildings, and roads), petroleum coke, liquefied hydrocarbon gases, oil fuel (mazout), motor gasoline, diesel fuel, and vacuum gas oil are among the items covered. The refinery’s structure consists of the following complexes: the complex of primary distillation of crude oil (LK-6U); the complex of compounding and oil product dispatch; the complex of advanced processing of crude oil (a fuel complex, KT-1 for deep processing of fuel oil); and the complex of processing heavy oil residue, which includes multiple process units, including a delayed coking unit, a delayed coking unit, and a delayed coking unit.
Coke Calcination Unit, Bitumen Production Unit, Sulfur Recovery Unit, and Sulfur Granulation Unit. Two large auxiliary facilities in the refinery are the Oil Sludge Processing and Hydrogen Production facilities and the Central Refinery Laboratory (CRL). Two new complexes of process units, the Isomerization and Naphtha Splitter unit and the Complex of Sulfur Recovery Units, were constructed as part of the improvement project and put into operation at the Refinery in December 2017. The goal behind building and launching the twelve new U&O sites was to use them for routine business.
Renovations were also made to the Delayed Coking Unit, Complex of Crude Oil Primary Distillation, Complex of Crude Oil Advanced Processing, and other operational production capacities. By carrying out each of these procedures, it was ensured that the production of K-4 motor fuels—diesel and gasoline bearing RON-92 and 95—complied with the technical requirements set forth by the Customs Union. The company has off-site facilities and sophisticated utilities, including loading and unloading racks for the rail and road transportation of oil products, as well as tank farms for commodities and raw feed and liquefied gas.
The refinery has a proactive social policy in place that establishes the prerequisites for life, work, and worker health. Currently, the refinery’s top priorities are meeting national needs for motor fuels that meet ecological classes K4, K5, increasing its output for a three-year repair cycle, expanding its technical capabilities, and producing Jet A jet fuel that meets international standards—all firsts for the refinery.
