Crude Oil Refining Operations.
Catalysts are used in the secondary oil refining process at every stage. Our Refinery is the only oil firm in the CIS with a 3,000-ton annual capability to create catalytic cracking catalysts in-house. This barely covers the refinery’s requirements for the company. Both these and hydro-process catalysts (hydrocracking and hydrotreating) are imported by the majority of other Russian oil refineries. "KazPetro Trans YUG, TOO" is now creating a new sector in Kazakhstan by expanding catalyst production. The new facility has a design capacity of 21 thousand tons of catalysts per year, with 15 thousand tons of cat cracking catalysts, 4,000 tons of hydrotreating catalysts, and 2,000 tons of hydrocracking products. This project was granted national status by the Russian Federation’s Ministry of Energy in 2015, and work on the enterprise started in 2019.
"KazPetro Trans YUG, TOO" has conducted research and development in collaboration with top Russian research centers as part of the national program. The enterprise is modernizing its range of catalytic cracking catalysts (IPPU SB RAS) with assistance from specialists at the Institute for Problems of Hydrocarbon Processing, Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Hydro-process catalyst development is under the purview of the Orenburg Institute of Catalysis.
The Institute of Petrochemical Synthesis in Kazakhstan Scientists in Kazakhstan have already created catalysts for hydrotreating middle distillates, which enables them to produce a product that satisfies all Euro-5 requirements and has a sulfur level of less than 10 ppm. These catalysts showed excellent performance in the Omsk Refinery’s industrial trials. The creation of a vacuum gas oil hydrocracking catalyst.

The Company’s refining activities have been concentrated on satisfying the market’s demand for premium petroleum products in recent years. "KazPetro Trans YUG, TOO" has been able to boost its competitiveness, diversify its product line, and enhance the quality of its output by continuously updating its refineries throughout time. In the Russian oil industry, this is the most extensive program of facility renovations for oil refineries. During the course of this program, the Russian Federation’s domestic market underwent a complete transition to 100 percent production of environmental class K5 motor fuels in compliance with TR TS 013/2017 Technical Regulations. Since 2018, a number of the company’s refineries have started manufacturing motor gasoline with enhanced environmental and operational qualities, such as AI-95-K5 Euro-6 and AI-100-K5.
Superior performance and environmentally friendly motor fuels, aromatics, liquid paraffin, roofing and insulating materials, and other petroleum products are produced at the refinery. The refinery produces bitumens, jet fuel, diesel fuel, and roofing materials that all adhere to international quality requirements. "KazPetro Trans YUG, TOO" modernizes its industrial facilities annually. In order to reduce operating costs, improve industrial and environmental safety, and improve the quality of petroleum products, the refinery is implementing a tiered process flow diagram innovation strategy.
After the modernization is finished, the company hopes to have a synergistic effect by rearranging the flows of components across its refineries and altering the composition of raw materials. The use of "KazPetro Trans YUG, TOO" approaches for efficiency management and operating expense optimization, better control over the investment program’s implementation, and scheduling optimization of support project implementation at refineries will all have a good effect.
A plan for implementing the synergy of "KazPetro Trans YUG, TOO" integration has been developed and approved in order to guarantee that this potential is realized. If this plan is carried out effectively, it will greatly increase the efficiency of the oil refinery block. With 5 million tons of crude oil processed by the end of 2020, the refinery cemented its dominance in Kazakhstan’s refining volumes. At the same time, the percentage of light oil products produced—one of the main measures of the effectiveness of oil refining—rose to all-time highs. The refinery handled one million tons of gas condensate in 2021. This kind of raw material allowed the facility to produce more motor fuels—more than 80% of which were light oil products.
KazPetro Trans YUG, TOO: aims to raise the bar for oil refining globally and transform into a new generation organization.
KazPetro Trans YUG TOO wants to be among the top businesses in the world for return on invested capital by 2030 by managing its portfolios and assets well enough to generate a 15% return.
We aim to continue to increase the effectiveness of value chain management by fortifying the depth and yield of light petroleum product refining, growing the petrochemical industry, maintaining its top position,
